2018 Harvest Bowl Save the Date

History of Harvest Bowl
Through its proud history, a major contribution of North Dakota State University is its leading work involving agriculture across the Upper Midwest, nation and world. Those historic ties to agriculture led to the creation of a distinctive event at NDSU – the Harvest Bowl Ag Recognition program.

Harvest Bowl started in 1973 through the efforts of NDSU potato geneticist Bob Johansen and NDSU athletic director Ade Sponberg.

The event recognizes the efforts of leading agriculturists and the impact the industry has on the area. Harvest Bowl promotes agriculture as it honors individuals and commodity groups. A special agribusiness award goes to a person with a distinguished career in agriculture and business. Harvest Bowl recognizes outstanding student-athletes, and also encourages alumni and friends to support scholarships toward the education of young men and women in all areas of academic life. Since its humble beginning more than four decades ago, Harvest Bowl has become a prominent annual NDSU tradition.

2019 Harvest Bowl
Harvest Bowl celebrates excellence in agriculture and North Dakota State University athletics. This year marks the 46th anniversary!

The festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 with the Harvest Bowl social, dinner, and awards program at the Delta by Marriott in Fargo and continues on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 with kickoff of the Harvest Bowl football game when the Bison play Western Illinois.

The Harvest Bowl program annually recognizes success, dedication, and hard work of outstanding agriculturists in 53 counties in North Dakota and 10 counties in western Minnesota.

County Honorees

More than 2,700 agriculturists have been recognized and more than $285,000 in scholarship dollars have been awarded to NDSU student athletes with agricultural backgrounds.
