2019 Service Award
The Service Award recognizes exceptional service and leadership in volunteer fundraising.

Keith and Cathy Peltier met while attending NDSU and today, they are even more involved with the university than they were as active and successful students.

The Peltiers give generously of their time and leadership to support NDSU and the NDSU Foundation.

Keith is an NDSU Foundation trustee, a member of the Outreach Committee, the State and Local Relations Committee and the Bison Caucus. Keith brings relationships and leadership, an in-depth knowledge of the university and business expertise that help drive the Foundation’s mission and NDSU’s continued advancement.

When it comes to the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, the Peltiers lead by example. They are members of the Founders Society, and have long supported performing arts, the Joe Peltier Memorial Scholarship Endowment, Bison Bidders Bowl, the Roger Grooters Cross Country Endowment and other NDSU causes.

Keith and Cathy have served on the Bison Bidders Bowl Committee for six years and were co-chairs in 2014 and 2015. In just the past five years, the Bison Bidders Bowl has generated more than $2 million, and we have the Peltiers and other volunteers to thank for the annual event’s success. Cathy also serves on and is past chair of the Bison Arts Gala Committee. Every year, the NDSU Foundation and Alumni Association organizes events designed to build relationships and maximize advocacy and philanthropy to support the university. The Peltiers’ business, Proseed, is a regular supporter of the Foundation’s work through corporate sponsorships.

The Peltiers also are serving as ambassadors for the most ambitious philanthropic campaign in NDSU history. Keith and Cathy will help launch the campaign in late 2019 and see it through to a successful conclusion in 2022.

Keith’s love of agriculture brought him to NDSU in 1971 where he ran track, was a member of the SAE Fraternity and earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology and a master’s degree in agriculture economics.

Cathy was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and received her bachelor’s degree in home economics. She became a teacher, then served for 20 years as the Wells County director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s nutrition program for women, infants and children. Cathy also has served as a mentor to mothers of young children, taught Sunday school and served on the First Lutheran Church Council.

After college, Keith worked as a grain merchandiser and elevator manager for Central Soya and Continental Grain locations in Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota. Keith and Cathy returned to North Dakota in 1981, when Keith was hired to manage the Harvey Farmers Elevator. In 1991, Keith became the marketing manager, then general manager of Harvey-based Proseed, Inc., a crop seed supplier to the region’s farmers.

The Peltiers bought controlling interest in Proseed in 1995 and have built the company into a successful, regional brand. Keith is also a landowner; managing partner of Peltier Farms Partnership; president of PK Sunflowers and a member of Arthur Companies Board of Directors.

Keith also supports farmers and the region’s agriculture industry by serving on several boards including the State Board of Agriculture Research and Education.

Keith and Cathy have three children and a granddaughter. They live in West Fargo, N.D.
