Kristina L. (Boostrom) Schlecht
B.S. 1997, pharmaceutical sciences
Pharm.D., 1999

As a junior in high school, Tina decided she wanted to pursue a career in pharmacy. She wanted to stay in state and close to family during college, so NDSU was a perfect fit. While at NDSU, Tina’s favorite memories include the day she received her letter of acceptance into the pharmacy program, being selected as one of the recipients for the New Zealand pharmacy rotation and her first date with now husband, Shannon Schlecht to a Theta Chi Fraternity term dance. Tina was involved with Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Libra Honor Society, Mortar Board Senior Honor Society, Kappa Epsilon Pharmaceutical Fraternity, the Academy of Students of Pharmacy and the Association of Students of Hospital Pharmacy. In 1997, Tina received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Tina earned her Pharm.D. in 1999 and went on to do her Residency at the North Dakota Institute for Pharmaceutical Care (NDIPC).

After graduation from NDSU, Tina was hired by Clinical Supplies Management, Inc (CSM). Gerald Finken, the CEO/President and Founder of CSM, best sums up Tina’s contributions in this excerpt from her nomination materials: “While working at CSM, Tina established the first-ever clinical research-based MTM program for clinical trials. She tirelessly developed the entire program on her own which included the development of a business plan, acquiring and furnishing an appropriate facility, the hiring of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, creating procedures, processes and methods for phone-based counseling and training…all the while actually performing 24/7 phone-based counseling. Her dedication to patients with diabetes and her knowledge of patient compliance in diabetes-based clinical trials is unsurpassed and was directly responsible for a major pharmaceutical company to obtain FDA approval for two unique diabetes compounds.” Also while at CSM, she established a satellite office of Clinical Supplies Management in Portland, Oregon and was promoted to Vice President, Retention and Compliance Services of Clinical Supplies Management at the age of 29.

While working full time, Tina earned an MBA from the University of Oregon in 2005. In 2010, Tina was hired by National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) as Director of Pharmacy Affairs. In 2011, she was promoted to Director of the Long-Term Care Division and Pharmacy Affairs. As quoted from Dean Charles Peterson, in nomination materials: “The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) represents the pharmacist owners, managers, and employees of more than 23,000 independent community pharmacies across the United States. The nation’s community pharmacies, pharmacy franchises, and regional chains dispense nearly half of the nation’s retail prescription medications. This is a very high level position in one of pharmacy’s most prestigious national organizations for someone so early in their professional career.”

Tina and her husband, Shannon reside in Alexandria, VA. Tina enjoys traveling, golfing, running and reading and also serves on the NDSU Pharmacy National Advisory Board.

“Ms. Tina Schlecht has distinguished herself as a leader in the practice of pharmacy in all aspects of the profession. She is truly a well-rounded, gifted pharmacist professional who has practiced pharmacy in just about every setting.”

– Gerald E. Finken, CEO/President and Founder, Clinical Supplies Management, Inc.

“Dr. Tina Schlecht is everything one would expect from a graduate of NDSU’s pharmacy program. Her job knowledge and quantity but more importantly, the quality of work on behalf of National Community Pharmacists Association members is excellent. Guided by a keen wit and excellent sense of humor, Tina is a first rate team member, always leading by example.”

– William Popomaronis P.D., Vice President, National Community Pharmacists Association
